چکیده
Approach and results In April 2006, a dairy cattle herd located in Catalonia was depopulated due to widespread M caprae infection with spoligotype profile SB0416. The herd was repopulated but, in 2009, the same spoligotype was identified, and several possible causes of infection (including the recirculation of the previous infection, purchase of infected animals and contact with other infected animals) were ruled out. No bovine herds were located in the proximity of the affected cite as doi: 10.1136/vr.101347 Veterinary Record (2013) 172, 663

Tuberculosis in buffalo: the first report on the phenotypic and genetic characteristics of the isolated organism in Western Azarbaijan, Iran
In most countries, tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium bovis is mainly a disease of cattle but can infect buffalos too. The disease can be controlled successfully by mean of a test-and-slaughter program. In Iran test-and-slaughter program has started since 1971 and prevalence of bovine tuberculosis reduces from 5% to less than 0.12% in recent years. In Western Azarbaijan, North West of Iran, t...
متن کاملBovine tuberculosis and the endangered Iberian lynx.
We report the first case of bovine tuberculosis in a free-living Iberian lynx (Lynx pardina), an extremely endangered feline, from Doñana National Park in Spain. The isolate (Mycobacterium bovis) correlates by molecular characterization with other isolates from wild ungulates in the park, strongly suggesting an epidemiologic link. Mycobacterium bovis infects many animal species, with wild and f...
متن کاملStrategies to Reduce Bovine Tuberculosis Transmission
Bovine tuberculosis (bTB) is a zoonotic disease caused by Mycobaterium bovis, and is transmissible to humans, wildlife and domestic livestock. In the northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan, white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) serve as a reservoir for the disease and pose a significant threat to domestic cattle and captive cervids. Scientists at USDA, APHIS, Wildlife Services, National Wild...
متن کاملMycobacterium microti Infection in Dairy Goats, France
To the Editor: Mycobacterium microti is a member of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC). This complex also includes M. tuberculosis, which causes human tuberculosis, and M. bovis and M. caprae, which cause bovine tuberculosis. M. microti was initially described as a pathogen of small rodents and also frequently affects domestic animals, especially cats, and has also been described in ...
متن کاملZoonotic aspects of Mycobacterium bovis and Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex (MAC).
Pathogens that are transmitted between the environment, wildlife, livestock and humans represent major challenges for the protection of human and domestic animal health, the economic sustainability of agriculture, and the conservation of wildlife. Among such pathogens, the genus Mycobacterium is well represented by M. bovis, the etiological agent of bovine tuberculosis, M. avium ssp. paratuberc...
